THE REIGN OF CHRIST

Now what we are all agreed upon is that the binding of Satan and the 1000 year reign all happen in history before the ultimate reign of God when He establishes the Kingdom of God. Lets first deal with the binding of Satan and what Jesus teaches about it.ONE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF INTERPRETING SCRIPTURE IS TO INTERPRET SCRIPTURE WITH SCRIPTURE,ESPECIALLY LIKE HERE IN REVELATION.Lets start by interpreting the binding of Satan in Revelation 20 with the binding of Satan in Matthew 12:29 and on. Jesus teaches in Matthew 12: 29 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Here Jesus teaches about the binding of Satan in His ministry.. Jesus clearly is teaching that He is the one stronger than the strongman who binds the strongman and then plunders his goods. This began in the ministry of Jesus. He could only cast demons out because he had already bound the strongman Satan and therefore could plunder his goods. In otherwords those who are held captive by Satan. All who are Born again by the Spirit of God are proof that Satans goods have been plundered. Christ has taken us out of the dominion of darkness and into his dominion of light.So we must conclude that Satan is bound in the ministry of Jesus and not sometime in the future
Now we know in Collosians 2:10-15 that Paul teaches we are complete in Jesus because we have received the circumcision made without hands referring to the circumcision of the heart of the New covenant How Jesus death on the cross bought our forgiveness of sins signified in baptism and raised in the now by faith in the operation of God who raised Jesus from the dead. Indicating God has raised us to New Life or spiritual resurrection by the same power which he used to raise Jesus from the dead.... By doing all these things Paul teaches us that he destroyed principalities and powers and made a show of them openly,triumphing over them ie the powers and principalities in it.Here again in the cross and resurrection we see that Christ has defeated Satan bound him and plundered his goods ie the church.
what is also clear that binding Satan doesn't mean he can't do a thing.It means he can't do a thing about his possessions been plundered by Christ. Also for the first time in history the Pagan nations who had no knowledge of Gods salvation have come into the light of Christs salvation.Before this they were held captive by Satan not knowing Gods salvation. So clearly the angel of Revelation 20 is Jesus Christ because He alone has the keys to the grave WHICH IS THE BOTTOMLESS PIT, by defeating death by His resurrection. Clearly this is Jesus as no other angel has the key to the bottomless pit which is the grave.
